NEET UG 2026: NTA Issues Urgent Document Advisory Ahead of Registrations

With the medical entrance season fast approaching, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially set the wheels in motion for NEET UG 2026. In a significant public notice released on January 5, 2026, the agency issued a proactive advisory urging millions of medical aspirants to verify and update their essential documents immediately.

This early warning is designed to prevent the “last-minute panic” and application rejections that have plagued students in previous years. Here is everything you need to know about the official advisory and how to prepare.

The NTA Official Advisory: Whatโ€™s New?

The NTA has emphasized that discrepancies between a candidateโ€™s official documents and their NEET application form can lead to immediate disqualification. The primary focus of the January 5 notice is the synchronization of data across three key pillars:

1. Aadhaar Card Updation (Non-Negotiable)

Your Aadhaar card is the primary identity tether for NEET 2026. NTA has instructed candidates to ensure the following details match their Class 10 Certificate exactly:

    • Full Name: Every letter and space must match.

    • Date of Birth: A common point of rejection; ensure it is correct in UIDAI records.

    • Biometrics: Candidates are advised to update their thumbprints and iris scans if they haven’t done so in the last few years.

    • Photograph: If your Aadhaar carries a childhood photo, update it to a recent one to avoid identification hurdles at the exam center.

2. Category Certificate Validity (EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST)

Reservation benefits are only granted if the certificates are “Current and Valid.”

    • OBC-NCL & EWS: These must be issued in the current financial year. NTA cautions that outdated certificates will default your category to “General” during counseling.

    • SC/ST: Ensure the certificate is issued by a competent authority as per the latest central government formats.

3. UDID Card for PwD Candidates

Aspirants under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category must possess a valid Unique Disability ID (UDID) card. NTA has specifically mentioned that expired or non-renewed disability certificates will not be entertained during the verification process.

Expected Registration Timeline 2026

While the document advisory is live, the official registration window is expected to open shortly.
